Late Afternoon Too, Pastel, 9" x 12", painted on Uart 400 sanded paper

This is a painting of the same barn that is in Late Afternoon.  The reference photo is from the WetCanvas reference library, and was taken by Paula Ford.  Old barns have such character and this one was no exception.  I really have to paint more barns, they're so much fun.

I love this, the colors are beautiful, nice composition, drawing.
I just got some Uart 400 & a few Unison pastels, I have to watch it or that paper will eat them up. I have some Conte Crayons, might use those to build the background then later in the painting use the Unisons.
I have some Canson Mi Tientes, some don't like that paper but I do-will practice on that. Sorry to ramble on,

Thank you Kerry. If you try underpainting with watercolor first on UArt, you will find you will go through less pastels.... Be careful with crayons... anything with an oily base won't work well with soft pastels. I like Canson Mi Tientes also, it's a great workhorse paper. It's not expensive, and doesn't eat up the pastels as much. Great hearing from you, happy painting!
